About The Society Print

The Society hold meetings every Tuesday from September to the end of March, and then alternate Tuesdays from April to the end of July. We are a friendly group and welcome members of all age groups, male and female, ranging from experienced photographers to absolute beginners just starting out with their first camera. Our members are involved in all aspects of photography from traditional film and slides, up to the latest in Digital technology, and cover a wide range of subjects and treatments.

Throughout our syllabus visiting photographers are invited to come along and talk about their work, experiences and travels, and our own members are encouraged to do likewise. We also run regular photographic competitions and organise tutorials on a wide range of photographic techniques.

Associate membership is available for the friends and spouses of full members. Concessionary membership rates are available for Junior and full time Students. Refreshments are available and provide an opportunity for more informal exchange of ideas and information.

Members of the Society are automatically also members of the Yorkshire Photographic Union (YPU) , and through them of the Photographic Alliance of Great Britain (PAGB) and the International Federation of Photographic Art (FIAP) . They are entitled to enter work for their exhibitions and are eligible to apply for their honours.
